SIA LICENSING

The Private Security Act 2001 led to the setting up of SIA licensing to improve the security industry’s image by:
- Managing and issuing licences

- Developing an Approved Contractor Scheme

Stage 1: Licensing for individuals operating within the private security industry.

In March 2006, it became illegal to work in a private security role without an SIA licence.  We were committed and successful in having our security staff SIA licensed by that date.

To obtain an SIA licence each officer will have:
·     Minimum 150 hours knowledge and practical skills training
·     Taken and passed an exam

Other areas checked include:  Identity, professional competence/level of training, criminal record and the right to work

This licensing will separate the best in the security industry from the rest: Knighthawk’s total quality approach and SIA licence policy place us firmly among the best.

Stage two: SIA Approved Contractor Scheme (ACS)

Accreditation from the ACS provides independent proof of a security provider’s commitment to quality. We have been granted by the SIA, Approved Contractor Status which has distinguished us as being amongst the best providers of private security services in England and Wales.
